The meeting gathered representatives of <\/span>national tuberculosis programs (NTPs) from EECA countries<span class=\"s1\">, as well as <\/span>international and non-governmental organizations<span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the meeting, <\/span>Dr. Tereza Kasaeva<span class=\"s1\">, <\/span>Director of the WHO Global Tuberculosis Program<span class=\"s1\">, emphasized that the <\/span>EECA region continues to have the highest burden of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB)<span class=\"s1\">. She highlighted the <\/span>importance of implementing innovative oral TB treatments<span class=\"s1\">, <\/span>eliminating injectable MDR-TB treatment options<span class=\"s1\">, and <\/span>transitioning to outpatient care models<span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Participants also discussed <\/span>progress in expanding access to modern TB treatments and diagnostics<span class=\"s1\"> and the <\/span>adaptation of WHO recommendations at the national level<span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As a result of the meeting, participants <\/span>developed a communiqu\u00e9 (attached)<span class=\"s1\"> outlining the <\/span>key priorities for further work<span class=\"s1\"> at both the <\/span>national and regional levels<span class=\"s1\"> in <\/span>EECA<span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/eeca-cat.info\/en\/communique-eng-2\/\">Communiqu\u00e9 ENG<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In May 2024, the \u201cEurasian Community for Access to Treatment\u201d meeting took place in Istanbul, organized by ITPC EECA in collaboration with the European Coalition to Fight TB.
