{"id":18282,"date":"2024-03-11T10:51:15","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T07:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eeca-cat.info\/?p=18282"},"modified":"2025-02-25T10:52:49","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T07:52:49","slug":"joint-statement-on-the-earlier-inclusion-of-pregnant-women-and-other-individuals-in-tuberculosis-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eeca-cat.info\/en\/joint-statement-on-the-earlier-inclusion-of-pregnant-women-and-other-individuals-in-tuberculosis-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Statement on the Earlier Inclusion of Pregnant Women and Other Individuals in Tuberculosis Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">October 25-28, 2023, Washington, D.C.<\/span> \u2013 Sixteen representatives of communities affected by tuberculosis (TB), with experience in TB during pregnancy, gathered to reach a consensus on the inclusion of pregnant and breastfeeding women and other individuals in TB treatment and vaccine research.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s2\">This community meeting was part of a broader event organized by the <\/span>Supporting, Mobilizing, and Accelerating Research for Tuberculosis Elimination (SMART4TB) consortium<span class=\"s2\">, the <\/span>International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network<span class=\"s2\">, and the <\/span>World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Programme<span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">During the meeting, community representatives identified consensus positions on how pregnant and breastfeeding women and other individuals should be included in TB research. These positions were developed through discussions with scientists and clinical experts, as well as based on practical experience and the work conducted by representatives within TB-affected communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">The goal of this document is to ensure that these positions inform discussions and recommendations that will emerge from the ongoing scientific consensus process. This process aims to lay the foundation for a future <span class=\"s1\">WHO Consensus Statement on the Early Inclusion of Pregnant Women and Other Individuals in TB Research<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Attached, you will find the <span class=\"s1\">joint statement<\/span> in both <span class=\"s1\">Russian and English<\/span>, where each position is highlighted in bold and accompanied by a rationale.
