In May 2024, the Eurasian Community for Access to Treatment (ECAT) held a meeting in Istanbul focused on expanding access to tuberculosis (TB) treatment. The event was organized by ITPC EECA in collaboration with the European Coalition Against TB. The meeting minutes are available in the attachments in English.
The meeting brought together representatives from the public sector and National TB Programs from Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Additionally, NGOs, civil society representatives from the EECA region, and experts from WHO, Treatment Action Group (TAG), Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), and UNDP participated in the discussions.
During the event, participants engaged with pharmaceutical companies Viatris and MacLeods, as well as the TB Alliance, to discuss the production and registration of TB medicines, their availability in the EECA region, pricing policies, and innovative developments.
