As part of the Eurasian Community for Access to Treatment (ECAT) meeting, held in Istanbul from May 22–24, representatives from international organizations Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Treatment Action Group (TAG) presented global campaigns aimed at expanding access to tuberculosis (TB) treatment and diagnostics.
Christophe Perrin, a TB advocacy pharmacist at MSF, provided an in-depth overview of the “Time for $5!” campaign, which advocates for reducing the cost of TB diagnostic tests to $5 USD.
Erin McConnell, Senior TB Project Associate at TAG, discussed the 1/4/6×24 Campaign, which focuses on integrating shorter, effective, and affordable TB treatment regimens—one, four, or six months—into national programs by the end of 2024. Erin also provided a detailed overview of the SMART4TB project.
